May is recognized as national Mental Health Awareness Month. According to the CDC, 1 in 5 Americans suffer from a mental health disorder and only half of those people receive treatment. This is a month to destigmatize mental health disorders so that those struggling might feel more comfortable asking for help to achieve mental wellness.
