It’s often said that the hardest part of overcoming an addiction is taking the first step into a rehab program. Rehab admissions is designed to be simple, especially at Gateway. Clients can expect help and support right away as they work toward the health and happiness they deserve. On your journey to addiction recovery, take advantage of all the resources that are available.
Rehab Admissions Intake Assessment
The rehab admissions process begins with a complete intake assessment. This assessment consists of clients telling their stories and Addiction Medicine experts helping develop a customized treatment plan that meets all of their needs. During an intake assessment, expect a focus on health. Toxicology screenings, for example, can reveal what substances are in the bloodstream and what withdrawal symptoms clients might expect in the coming days and weeks.
An intake assessment might follow a tour of the facility. A tour is not just a chance to see the premises. It is also an opportunity to ask questions, view accommodations and get a feel for the recovery process. Family members and other loved ones can also get peace of mind knowing that the Gateway locations are welcoming, safe and comfortable.

Support Throughout the Recovery Process
No two clients are the same, which means that the rehab admissions process can be a little different for everyone. To start, not all clients will need the same level of care. The great thing about addiction treatment is that it is available in many different formats. Clients can find the program that best suits their current needs and their lifestyle.
Just some of the addiction recovery programs that clients can choose from within the full continuum of care include the following:
- General Outpatient Care
- Sober Living Homes
- Alumni Engagement and Aftercare Options
Financing Addiction Treatment
Around the world, far too many individuals fall into what is known as the treatment gap. This is the difference between those individuals who need addiction treatment and those who actually get treatment. All too often, people don’t get the help they need because of worries about cost.
The good news is that there are many ways to afford rehab. To start, virtually all health insurance policies in the United States cover some form of rehab. That’s especially true when the program in question has Joint Commission accreditation, which Gateway does. In addition to the availability of insurance coverage, in and out of network, there are financing options that provide all clients with a viable route to recovery.
Becoming Part of a Community
At Gateway, the goal is not just to have clients work their way through the recovery process. Instead, the objective is to have each client leave with a personalized success story. Clients who graduate from a successful recovery program are part of an integral and lifelong recovery community.
Some clients transition into Sober Living Programs and live independent lives with support and accountability nearby. Others head back to their families and their careers, but they stay in touch through Alumni Programs. There are countless support groups across the country, and many clients will continue to take part as a way to stay connected.
The friendships gained during rehab are wonderful, but just as important is being able to give back to the community. Sharing experiences and helping others who are in the midst of recovery can be very fulfilling. Evidence reveals that staying connected to the world of recovery can significantly reduce the risk of relapse.
