Although fantasy sports is considered a game of skill and not gambling by some, it can quickly become problematic for individuals who have struggled with gambling addiction in the past. Mercedes Kent, LCSW CADC, Program Director of Central Illinois Outpatient at Gateway Foundation, emphasizes in her conversation with LaMyiah Harvel of WICS-TV that fantasy football can be dangerous for some people and suggests what to do when gambling becomes an issue. Gateway Foundation provides individual and group counseling for compulsive gambling as well as other mental health or substance use disorders.
