Recovery Month 2025

Every September, we come together to celebrate National Recovery Month—a powerful time to recognize the strength of those in recovery, honor the professionals and programs that support them, and raise awareness about the importance of mental health and substance use treatment.

Why Recovery Month Matters

Millions of individuals and families across the country are affected by substance use and mental health challenges. Yet despite how common these struggles are, stigma still prevents too many people from seeking help.

Recovery Month is a reminder that:

  • Treatment works.
  • People do recover.
  • Support systems matter.
  • And no one is alone.

Sharing stories of resilience helps break down harmful stereotypes and shows others that there is a path forward, no matter where they are starting from.

Gateway Foundation’s Commitment to Recovery

At Gateway Foundation, recovery is at the heart of everything we do. For over 50 years, we’ve walked alongside individuals on their recovery journeys, providing personalized, compassionate, and evidence-based care that meets each person where they are.

We believe that recovery doesn’t just change a life—it saves it. Our programs are designed to not only treat substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, but to empower long-term recovery with the tools, support, and community connection each person deserves.

Throughout Recovery Month, we’ll be sharing stories of healing, hosting events, and highlighting the incredible strength of those who’ve found hope through treatment.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you’re in recovery, know someone who is, or simply care about building a healthier, more compassionate world Recovery Month is a time to take action.

Here are a few ways you can participate:

  • Share your story or the story of someone who inspires you.
  • Attend a local recovery event or walk in honor of a loved one.
  • Support organizations that provide access to treatment and recovery support.
  • Educate yourself and others about substance use and mental health.
