About the Cause

Since 2016, Gateway has been able to provide 275 doses of life-saving medication through its Naloxone Distribution Program to patients, families and members of Lake County. Additionally, Gateway has been able to support the Lake County Opioid Initiative in an effort to prevent opioid abuse, addiction, overdose and death. With the community’s help we are hoping to bring awareness to the worsening opioid epidemic in Lake County.

Naloxone is a medication designed to rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. It can quickly restore normal respiration to a person who’s breathing as slowed or stopped as a result of overdosing with heroin or prescription medications. Providing more people in the community with Naloxone can help prevent the increasing number of overdoses.
