It’s a tough time to be a teenager. The stress of everyday life— from peer pressure, social media and bullying, to academics, sports, family life and more—can be difficult enough to manage. When you add in addiction or a co-occurring mental health disorder, the situation can quickly spiral out of control. Our adolescent substance abuse treatment programs, through our teenage rehabilitation center, allow teens to continue their studies during treatment, so they can maintain grade placement and stay on the path toward success. Because, at Gateway Foundation, we don’t just want patients to graduate from our program—we want to make sure they graduate from high school as well.
“The adolescent program engages families in educational and therapeutic services to support their loved one’s recovery. Youth learn the coping skills they need to navigate stressful situations without drugs and alcohol.”

What to expect
For teens, it’s vitally important to catch any co-occurring disorders early on. The treatment programs at Gateway Foundation offer Dual Diagnosis Treatment, which can help adolescents better understand their addiction and any mental health disorders from a young age.
Additionally, we offer a number of different Addiction Treatment Programs to fit the lifestyle and needs of our patients. These include Residential, Outpatient and Recovery Home Treatment. We personalize our adolescent substance abuse treatment to our clients’ specific requirements.
As a person-centered and family-centered program, Gateway Foundation helps teens and their families achieve lasting recovery.

Care Available from Teenage Rehabilitation Center Programs
Our adolescent program offers a full range of care to meet all needs.
For adolescents, a Residential Treatment Program can be the ideal start to long-term recovery. It takes them out of their environment and allows them to fully immerse themselves in treatment. Around-the-clock support in a therapeutic community can make all the difference in sustainable sobriety. Once teens have a strong foundation in treatment, they can begin the step-down process into one of our Outpatient Programs.
Gateway Foundation understands how important continuing education is. For this reason, our Full-Day Treatment includes an educational component to allow teens to grow both in their studies and in their recovery. In this program, they’ll spend five days per week at our teenage rehabilitation center. During this time, they continue to participate in individual and group therapies. We also provide important services and education for family members to begin healing the whole family unit while creating healthy boundaries.
Adolescents with a stable home and a good recovery foundation can step down to a Half-Day Outpatient Program. They’ll also be able to continue in school while going through this type of adolescent substance abuse treatment program, helping them to begin achieving their dreams. Most insurance plans cover Outpatient Programs as well. This makes it easier for parents to be able to get their children the help they need at a teenage rehabilitation center.
As adolescents grow in their sobriety, they need to continue their addiction treatment journey. A General Outpatient Program is a good follow-up to a more intensive option. Most importantly, this type of treatment is easy to schedule around both school and work. Patients continue to receive individualized treatment through group and individual therapy sessions that help them grow.
Older adolescents who are in college or beginning their careers can benefit strongly from living in a Recovery Home. Sober living environments make it easier to maintain recovery in a culture that glorifies drinking and drug use for teens. These homes are cost-effective and safe environments to begin building a sober support network for life. Adolescents can also continue participating in our Outpatient Program while living in one of these homes.
Lifelong recovery is possible, but it requires constant vigilance. Participating in an Alumni Engagement Program at Gateway Foundation makes it easier to stay sober while helping others maintain their promises to themselves as well. Alumni are able to participate in a variety of sober social activities, counseling and educational services throughout their lives.
