YOUTH TREATMENT

For teens struggling with a substance abuse problem, Gateway offers help and a chance at new beginnings through residential and outpatient treatment programs in Chicago, Lake Villa, Springfield and Carbondale, Illinois.  The goals for each youth care client are abstinence from alcohol and drugs, developing positive attitudes and health habits, re-establishing family relationships and improving their education.

Gateway Offers:

  • Residential and/or outpatient programs
  • Individual, group and family counseling
  • An accredited high school program and individual tutoring
  • Vocational training and job preparation
  • Team sports, field trips and other recreational activities that introduce healthy alternatives for a sober lifestyle

Teens experience unique problems with substance abuse and criminal thinking and behavior because of the powerful influences of peer pressure during adolescence. Moreover, these young clients frequently demonstrate difficulty responding to authority or taking responsibility for their actions, which are normal developmental tasks for this age group. Gateway prides itself in hiring staff with specialized training in the area of adolescent treatment services, and we have accumulated extensive experience serving this challenging population.
